Reworking Performance Management

In order to continuously monitor and improve its own performance, DOI implemented a CompStat-style performance management program. Initially, each of the agency’s 20 independent investigatory offices reported in an individual format, limiting opportunities to compare performance across offices.

The Department of Investigation engaged Bennett Midland to overhaul its performance management program. The goal of the project was to ensure that DOI’s program reinforced management objectives through standardized performance measures across the agency’s twenty inspector general offices. Our team streamlined the process, developed new metrics that are tightly focused on the key outcomes of the agency, and crafted a uniform reporting tool.
