Creating a Student Tracking System

Bennett Midland was engaged by the New York City Department of Education (DOE) and City University of New York (CUNY) to support the development of a Student Tracking Database, an application that assembles robust research data drawing on student information from large databases at both DOE and CUNY. By developing such a system—one that converts tens of thousands of disparate student records into uniform records that can be easily analyzed by standard statistical software—DOE and CUNY created a powerful tool to help document and understand the factors that contribute to students’ success as they pursue secondary education.
